Privacy Policy — Finanzz

Effective date: April 20, 2026
App name: Finanzz
Bundle identifier: com.akphisher.finanzz

1. Introduction

Finanzz (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a personal finance management application for Android and iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we process and store it, and with whom (if anyone) it is shared. By using Finanzz you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account we collect your email address and an authentication credential (password hash or OAuth token). This information is processed by Google Firebase Authentication to verify your identity. We do not store plaintext passwords.

2.2 Financial Data You Enter

Transactions, budget pools, bills, investment entries, and categories you add (manually, by voice, or via scanning) are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly export it.

2.3 Camera and Image Data

Why Finanzz needs camera access

Finanzz requests access to your device camera for two specific purposes:

Feature

What the camera captures

Receipt Scan

A photo of a physical, paper receipt to extract the expense amount, merchant name, category, and date.

Bank Screenshot Scan

A photo of your banking app screen (or a saved screenshot) to extract a list of recent transactions.

Camera access is requested only when you actively open one of these scanning features. Finanzz never accesses the camera in the background and never records video.

How image data is processed

  1. On-device capture – The image is captured or selected entirely on your device using the system camera or photo library picker.
  2. Temporary encoding – The image is converted into a Base64-encoded data URL in device memory. This encoding is transient and exists only for the duration of the scan request.
  3. AI extraction – The encoded image is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection to OpenAI’s API (model: GPT-4.1-mini with vision). OpenAI’s models analyse the image to extract structured transaction data (amount, merchant, category, date). No other content in the image is used.
  4. Discarded after processing – Once the API response is received the encoded image is released from memory. Finanzz does not store the image file on its own servers, in Firebase, or in any cloud storage.
  5. Extracted data saved locally – Only the structured result (amount, merchant name, category, date) returned by the AI is saved to the local on-device database. Third-party AI processing by OpenAI

When you use a scanning feature, image data is sent to OpenAI, LP (“OpenAI”). OpenAI processes this data in accordance with its own API data usage policy. As of the effective date of this Policy, OpenAI does not use data submitted via the API to train its models by default. You can review OpenAI’s privacy practices at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Finanzz passes your anonymised user ID to OpenAI as request metadata solely for abuse monitoring; it is not linked to personally identifiable information by OpenAI.

Is image data shared with any other third parties?

No. Image data is sent only to OpenAI as described above. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or transmitted to any other third party.

2.4 Voice Input

When you use the voice entry feature, audio is captured by the device microphone. Voice transcription is performed on-device or via a system API; raw audio is not stored or transmitted to Finanzz servers.

2.5 Usage and Crash Data

We may collect anonymised crash reports and basic usage telemetry (e.g., feature open counts) to improve the app. This data contains no personally identifiable information and no financial or image data.

3. How We Use Your Data

Data

Purpose

Email / auth credential

Account authentication and security (Firebase Auth)

Transaction and budget data

Core app functionality, stored locally on your device

Anonymised usage / crash data

App stability and improvement

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the Finanzz service to you.

4. Data Storage and Security

Local database – All financial records are stored in an on-device SQLite database. The database is subject to Android and iOS platform-level security (file system encryption on locked devices).
Authentication tokens – Firebase Authentication tokens are stored in secure platform storage.
In-transit encryption – All communications between the app and external APIs (Firebase, OpenAI) use TLS 1.2 or higher.
No Finanzz cloud database – We do not have a Finanzz-operated cloud database that stores your financial transactions.

5. Data Retention

Account data – Retained until you delete your account.
Local financial data – Retained on-device until you uninstall the app or manually delete records.
Camera images – Not retained; discarded from memory immediately after AI extraction completes.
OpenAI processing – Subject to OpenAI’s own data retention policy; by default, API inputs are not retained beyond the processing request.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate personal data.
Delete your account and associated authentication data.
Opt out of crash and usage telemetry (via app settings).
Revoke camera permission at any time in your device’s Settings. Revoking camera permission disables the receipt and bank screenshot scanning features but does not affect any other app functionality.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@finanzz.app.

7. Children’s Privacy

Finanzz is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable under local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this document and notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of Finanzz after the updated Policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
